December 2020. For a client project, my team and I created content for Dr. Anne Thompson and Dr. Kelly Sutherland's research website. My team was tasked with creating content for four webpages, with each summarizing a publication of the clients. Before drafting the publication summaries, we conducted genre analysis research (see form above). We then used our findings to design a template for our drafts. We alternated the roles of writing, editing, and proofreading the four summaries (see the one I drafted above). To appeal to a wide range of stakeholders, we included definitions of scientific terms throughout the summaries. During the project, we communicated regularly with the clients to ensure their needs and expectations were met. Vertical Divider

November 2020. For a technical communication website, I researched and composed an article on the rhetorical situation. To appeal to the wiki's broad audience, I wrote the article in plain language. Guided by Wikipedia’s Manual of Style, I wrote from a neutral point of view and organized the content with headings and a table of contents. My research into the topic utilized credible, peer-reviewed sources, which I cited with APA-style references. Using Canva, I designed two diagrams for inclusion as visual aids. Vertical Divider

June 2020. In this project, my team and I conducted user research for PSU's Office of Information Technology (OIT). To collect data, we issued a survey and conducted interviews with PSU students. After analyzing responses, we segmented users by behavior, developing three personas for each segment (nine personas in total). Some project members designed the template and located suitable photos, while others authored the personas. These are the two personas that I wrote (Rodrigo) and co-wrote (Carly) for the "Depends on Others" segment. To finalize, I revised and edited them for consistency, concision, and inclusion of additional user characteristics. Vertical Divider

June 2020. To test the usability of PSU's Office of Information Technology (OIT) website, each project member fulfilled the role of tester and moderator twice (four tasks in total). After gathering our data, we then divided up into four pairs to organize and write a topline report. My partner and I analyzed user satisfaction in relation to OIT experience level. For one of the tasks, we identified sources of error and their severity levels (1 to 5). To conclude, we documented one general (#4) and one specific (#1) finding. Vertical Divider

March 2020. For this paper, I conducted rhetorical and close textual analysis of four college rejection letters. I studied and compared the texts' structures, pronoun use, and rhetorical appeals (ethos, pathos, and logos) to argue for ways that the genre can communicate a more personal-sounding message. I proposed and submitted the paper within a span of four weeks. Vertical Divider
